Twerkin’ Out
The company I’m production managing for has started a May health/wellness challenge. Our office is on Boylston Street in Boston, half a block behind the finish line of the Boston Marathon, so a lot of us were personally effected by the events of that day (no one was physically hurt, thank god). We were all struggling to get through this, and one of my coworkers thought this would be a good idea to pull through as a team.
Each of us has to pick something to do, or not do, during the month of May and if we all stick with it, we get a retreat/party/outing to celebrate. I decided to one, take the stairs up and down instead of the elevator (4 floors up, with landings that are basically hallways) and two, I’m going to start running again, after 6 years of not running, and a lot of activities that are not conducive to exercise, if you catch my drift.
So I’ve been running almost every day since the 1st. And it’s been going pretty well! Starting off slow to ease myself back in, but my longest run so far was 5 miles in 50 minutes on Friday. My comfort pace seems to be in that 10min/mile pace, and I want to get that down because I used to be a 7-8min/miler. I ran cross country for 6 years and track for 4 between middle and high school.
I’ve been doing some light lifting too. I don’t have weights, but my poor mans’ solution is leftover Arizona iced tea and bigass gaterade bottles filled with water that weigh 8-10 pounds. I’m interested in seeing how my progress is affected be being on T. I want to lose my little mini-keg in my stomach and define my muscles, but my weight fluctuates like crazy already so we’ll see how that goes.
Right after I started this I found out that there’s a 5k race in Plymouth on the 4th of July, so that is my goal. I definitely want to run it sub-30, but I will be ecstatic if I can do it in 25mins or less. Wish me luck!

The theatre company I work for runs a Tumblr, to post pics/videos/reviews of their shows, etc. I don’t follow it, but I follow their Twitter, which cross-posts Tumblr postings.
A little while ago I saw that someone had sent an Ask to the company’s Tumblr inquiring about the status of their internship application.
SERIOUSLY? who fucking does that? I get that technology and the internet is awesome and shit, but for real. Use half your brain and realize how stupid that is.
